I just logged out as admin and tested my site as a user.
I see that I can submit a listing but when I want to edit the listing it prompts me to register. Registering is great, but is there a way to have a user register without putting them through the wordpress backend / dashboard?
I want them to operate on the front end only. My fear is that potential users will get frustrated and leave if they’ve never seen a WP dashboard.
October 14, 2015 at 7:54 pm #7129BePro Software TeamKeymasterHi,
You can configure the BePro Listings form shortcode to register a user with their initial submission. This is done by adding the register=1 option to the create_listing_form shortcode. Details are available in our shortcode documentation
– https://www.beprosoftware.com/documentation/bepro-listings-shortcodes/
You then need to provide users with an easy way to login like the My Listings page.

BePro Software TeamOctober 14, 2015 at 9:02 pm #7131ilikelocalMemberThanks for the reply. Could I get you to actually give me the short code instead of leaving it up to me to make it work because it’s NOT working.
October 14, 2015 at 9:06 pm #7132ilikelocalMemberI don’t know what I’m missing or I wouldn’t ask you for help. I’ve read your documentation and it doesn’t make sense to the stupid people like myself.
I see this:
[create_listing_form]
register – (integer) Show registration fields, user and pass. If user is already a member, we use their user_id. Example value “1” or “0”
Redirect – Provide url for redirection after form submissionBut instead of giving us an example to go by the “documentation” leaves it up to us to figure out. I’ve spent countless hours on this project and I KNOW I’m not as stupid as I feel right now.
Can I use the form I created in conjunction with the registration/redirect code?

October 15, 2015 at 9:15 am #7141BePro Software TeamKeymasterHello,
We do not think you are stupid. We are definitely confused by the difficulty you experiencing while creating shortcodes. We offer two avenues
1. We offer a shortcode builder. Simply select the options and add the shortcode to your page. It could not get any easier. We talk about this on wordpress.org, on the BePro Lisitngs product page, on the shortcode documentation page we referenced earlier and a dedicated shortcode builder documentation page. There is even a video showing exactly how it works
– https://www.beprosoftware.com/documentation/bepro-listings-shortcode-builder/
2. We offer shortcode documentation. We did not invent the concept of shortcodes, its a wordpress feature. However, we still go through the process of teaching users exactly how they work. There are several examples and a video screencast tutorial stepping you through the process. Only after we explain what shortcodes are, do we then give you our shortcodes and their options. Its not realistic for us to maintain examples for every permutation of shortcodes and options.
99% of customers should find at least one of those options useful. If you fit into the 1%, we offer hands on product support where we set it up for you
– https://www.beprosoftware.com/shop/product-support-1hr/
If you have seen or know of a better approach, we would appreciate if you shared it. We have spent extensive time creating documentation and easy tools. In fact, we have not seen a shortcode builder like ours elsewhere, demonstrating our initiative in providing solutions. If our efforts are not working, we would like to know.

BePro Software TeamOctober 15, 2015 at 9:54 am #7144ilikelocalMemberHello,
I didn’t say you think I’m stupid. I was trying to tell you how stupid I feel because I cannot figure out how your shortcodes work. Sometimes geniuses like yourself who work with this day in and day out don’t understand how easy it is to confuse us less than genius types.
1. Thank you for the short code resources.
2. I think your tone is a little condescending. I don’t think that just because someone has a few more questions than someone else that it puts them into the 1% category (on second thought…maybe you just “implied” that I was stupid). I don’t think it’s unrealistic to show a few examples of each as my issue may be an extra SPACE or a failure to use a “_”
3. I already paid $75 for your “form builder” which has already caused problems by going blank (and I’m NOT the only one to experience this problem) and now you’re suggesting I either “get it” or I buy more help. Here’s a direct question. Maybe you can try to answer it instead of throwing a link at me and telling me to go “figure it out”.
Here’s a short code for a form I created in Form Builder
[create_listing_form bl_form_id=”2″]
I need to know how to get the user registered and keep them from having to look at or deal with the WP dashboard.
[create_listing_form]
How do I get the register/redirect function to work with the form I created?
[create_listing_form bl_form_id=”2″ register= ‘1’ redirect= ‘http://www…………….com’]
The above code creates the listing, redirects me to my website but when I go to “my-listings” to edit the listing it gives me a username and password field.
What am I supposed to do with this?
October 15, 2015 at 10:18 am #7145BePro Software TeamKeymasterHello,
This is explained in detail in the following documentation
– https://www.beprosoftware.com/documentation/form-builder-registration/
I’m not sure why you are taking offence to being linked to detailed documentation. However, that page states:
The stock BePro Listings form allows users to register via the use of a registration option in the shortcode. For the form builder, you will need to create the three fields yourself.
HOW IT WORKS
To add the ability for users to register with their form submission, you need to add three fields to your form. Specifically, you want to add
- Text Field with the Field Name “username”
- Password field with the default Field Name “password”
- Email field with the default Field Name “email”
___
BePro Software TeamOctober 15, 2015 at 10:32 am #7146BePro Software TeamKeymasterThe implication being that if the user enters a username, password and email during the creation of their form, they will have an account created. This is an exact replica of the features offered by the 100% FREE BePro Listings plugin
Also, its great to see that you have made progress with the shortcode. That looks perfect.
Lastly, many people fall into that 1% that are not stupid. Many customers express that they do not have the time, or their needs are custom. Your negative perceptions of our comments, puts the conversation in a tangent, prompting us to respond to the accusation. We understand you are frustrated and are trying to help you by providing well documented options

BePro Software TeamOctober 15, 2015 at 10:50 am #7147ilikelocalMemberThank you for the help. Is there any place in your video that tells me what you just told me?

Finding what I need has been difficult because everything I’ve seen so far has been in bits and pieces, and it feels like it’s scattered all over the place.

Thank you so much for telling me which hay stack the needle was in. 🙂
October 15, 2015 at 11:03 am #7148BePro Software TeamKeymasterHi,
We completely understand your perspective and appreciate your feedback.
To be honest, our documentation is a constant work in progress. It has improved considerably since its inception and we understand the need to continue making progress. We hope to revise our videos to incorporate the many new features offered by the Form Builder. We also hope to distribute a lot of it for free. Our ultimate goals are to reduce the learning curve and increase the stability of our solutions
Our only agenda is supporting you to be successful. We want to be a part of your team. Your financial contribution and communication is very much appreciated and helps us to improve. If you experience any other issues, don’t hesitate to reach out.

BePro Software TeamOctober 15, 2015 at 12:52 pm #7151ilikelocalMemberThank you Keymaster. As I’ve mentioned to Noble, I’m a video creator. I create tutorials, product demos along with being a video spokesperson. And, just like you, I love to give back. Being new at something sucks! Once I get this operational I’d love to create a video or videos that shows how I achieved my goals and made this work (in laymans terms). I would do this in order to give back to this community and others (without compensation).
One of my projects with this is to create a garage sale site and the other project is a site for lost and found pets (now my primary concern). A few years ago our community (Bastrop,Tx around 3,000 homes…google it!) almost burned to the ground. Pets of all kinds were displaced and homeless. Now, just a few miles east of us, we’re on fire again (Smithville, Texas)! So, you’ll have to forgive me for being so impatient but time is of the essence.
Thanks for your last message.

October 15, 2015 at 1:10 pm #7153ilikelocalMemberSuccess! It took less than 5 minutes to fix it. It’s amazing what happens when you get the info you need (I mean this in a nice way).
Now a logistical question. Is the user going to have to make a note of their username and password. I checked the email and didn’t receive any notification. Is that how it works?
October 15, 2015 at 4:15 pm #7155BePro Software TeamKeymasterHi,
Thanks for your patience and communication. I believe our software is a close match for your needs and hope they work well for you
To send users an email regarding their listing, you will need our 100% FREE BePro Email addon. Here is an article explaining exactly what it does and how to install it
– https://www.beprosoftware.com/documentation/bepro-listings-notifications/
In short, it will create an email for the user and the website administrator. You can edit or delete the emails within BePro Email.

BePro Software TeamOctober 18, 2015 at 3:18 pm #7180ilikelocalMemberThanks for the reply. I’m back in the office now. Will get back on this project shortly.
Thank you again.
October 18, 2015 at 4:12 pm #7182ilikelocalMemberKeymaster, I have the plugin installed. You talk about a forum. I see 2 questions answered in the forum and the last one is from 5 months ago. Is there any video or written documentation that shows a simple example of how this is to work together with Bepro listings and form builder?
https://www.beprosoftware.com/documentation/add-edit-delete-bepro-emails/
https://www.beprosoftware.com/documentation/bepro-email-faq/
https://www.beprosoftware.com/documentation/bepro-email-features/
https://www.beprosoftware.com/forums/forum/bepro-email/
https://www.beprosoftware.com/documentation/bepro-listings-notifications/
https://www.beprosoftware.com/documentation/bepro-listings-action-hooks/When a user registers and submits a listing I would like for them to receive an email with their newly created username and password.
So, is the answer to my questions in one of the pages listed above?
