Do you have any documentation on how to use the BePro Listings categories form field. How do I use the
Parent Category, Exclude Category and Require Category properly. I tried, but on the front form it does not give me any options to select… so suspect I am doing it wrongAugust 15, 2015 at 6:39 am #6614BePro Software TeamKeymasterHello,
Categories are a wordpress feature. Parent categories is a wordpress concept. Each field accepts coma separated category ID’s. The exclude and require fields do exactly as they suggest, prevent certain categories from being selected or require their selection
If unsure what category ID’s are or how to retrieve them, we offer a wordpress introduction video tutorial series to all subscribers. The basic membership is $10/Mo and can be cancelled at anytime. One of the topics covered is working with wordpress page and category ID’s

You could also refer to wordpress.org documentation to better understand their features

I’ve excluded three parent categories, as people should only be allowed to select the subcategory. But when I enter the 3 parent categories to be excluded, they still appear in the drop down menu when the submit a listing form is used.

Once the category ID’s are entered correctly, they should not be available on the front end. Can you share an example of one of the categories you have excluded?

Great, it looks like you are using the Category ID’s. Can you copy and paste exactly what you have placed in the exclude field? We would like to see the format you are using.

October 19, 2015 at 7:25 am #7199BePro Software TeamKeymasterHi,
Thank you. A screenshot is definitely the best way to share your current setup with us.
You are using a BePro Listings setting which is used by its default form. You are using the Form Builder which does not use this BePro Listings setting.
While editing a Form via the Form Builder, you must use the category field. Click/edit the category field to reveal several option including “Exclude”. Place the categories there and save the form.

October 31, 2015 at 11:26 am #7349nanettedpMemberI can’t seem to exclude the categories. I see that user ‘blurgen’ used numbers. I use the category name. Can you look at the image and see what I am doing wrong:
If I go to the http://guardtheirheart.co.za/submit-a-book/ page, then all the category options are listed still. Please help
October 31, 2015 at 12:09 pm #7351BePro Software TeamKeymasterHello,
As you noted, you must use the category ID which is a number. This is a wordpress feature and wordpress provides lots of free documentation about category and page ID’s
Alternatively, we understand that many of our customers are new to wordpress, so we offer an intro to wordpress video series. In that series we talk about various wordpress concepts like how you retrieve category and page ID’s.
