    Hi,

I’ve started uploading more listings onto my site and I’ve started to notice that it is freezing whenever I try to search for listings or click to move to the next listing page. Can you please have a look and give me some advice here?

I’m looking at my server resources and I can’t see any spikes.

From Previous conversations I think you’ve got my site details and I’ve left the administrator access open to you.

    Regards

    Jam

Bepro is going to be the core function on my site, as I’m sure it will be on a lot of other sites here. I think you response to any needs I’ve had has been great so far and I’m very happy to continue to grant access.
I hope you find whatever issue is causing it to freeze soon.
You’ll see that I’ve uploaded most listings onto the accommodation page, so that will be the best page for you to start testing.

    Regards

Also I am getting the following error message now:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 67108864 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 32 bytes) in /home/jambojam/public_html/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 211

I called my hosting provider and they say that it’s to do with bepro and probably this freezing issue that I am experiencing.

    Hi,

What type of hosting are you using (shared, vps, dedicated)?

I believe it’s shared hosting through godaddy.

    Hi,

We logged in, trying to confirm how many listings were uploaded. Without searching anything, just navigating the admin, we see an out of memory error. We also see the error in your admin dashboard, affecting features that have absolutely nothing to do with BePro Listings e.g. wordpress news feed

In this case, it seems that BePro Listings was showing symptoms of a bigger issue. There is only so much you can do on shared hosting. That’s the reason why vps and dedicated hosting exists. To further understand what we are referring to, check out the following posts by wordpress users on godaddy

    http://www.reddit.com/r/Wordpress/comments/35ovlj/has_anyone_else_noticed_sites_are_way_slower_on/
    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/godaddy-hosting-super-slow-is-it-me-or-them

We can also see you are running over 20 plugins which we do not make. Nothing wrong here; However, each plugin you add will increase the load time and need for resources from your server.

Its unfortunate that the server host chose to blame BePro Listings as the cause. We would be happy to review any statistics (not symptoms) which corroborates their claim. In fact, godaddy has a plugin called “P3 (Plugin Performance Profiler)” which we would recommend trying, if it doesn’t crash your site.

Also note that BePro Listings uses the wordpress construct called “custom post types”. As the name suggests, this is no different than a wordpress post. In short, this means that wordpress manages all, titles, categories, images and admin listings. So the inability to even view the BePro Listings main admin page, is demonstrating wordpress reaching its limit.

Ultimately, I want to convey that we seriously investigated this issue. Like any computer, there is a limit to how much can be loaded before performance degrades. A quick google search will reveal many godaddy users like yourself, who are very public about the limits experienced while using wordpress.

    ok,

I’m getting a friend of mine to give me a bit of help looking into this. I deactivated all plugins, reinstalled the wordpress core, now I’m not getting that error appear on the newsfeed and am able to browse through number of listings etc.

I also downloaded P3 performance plugin and it was showing that the plugin using up most resource at rest was bepro software updates so I’ve deactivated it, will only reactivate it when I’m ready to update etc.

The thing I really don’t understand here is that the whole setup appeared to be running just fine until I started to add more listings. I think I should also say that at the point I started to add more listings I had also removed a number of plugins and I had increased my resources from go daddy from 512mb RAM to 2GB Ram. Also those articles that you showed me to were all talking about speed/slowing issues when it comes to godaddy… this is freezing all together and simply will not load, I could understand if it took a long period of time to load but to not load up at all makes me wonder if there is perhaps some sort of conflict.

if this does turn out to be an issue just from using godaddy, are there any hosting companies that you recommend and are capable of running your plugin?

    Ok,
So a developer friend of mine has been giving me a little help debugging this.
He is initial look at this has revealed that it was a jquery error that was causing my problems. It was in the passing of an object with an invalid character. He tried using different browsers and found that IE8 could open page two when forcing compatablity whereas IE11, 10 and 9 could not.

I’ve gone back onto this and tried disabling all plugins apart from bepro, sure enough page 2 will now open for me. So I’m thinking that this is probably a conflict with another plugin that’s causing the problem. By process of elimination I’m going to work out what the plugin is and see if there’s going to be a way around the issue.

hmmm, well… I don’t know what to make of this now.

I deactivated all of the plugins and reactivated them one by one slowly checking along the way. I was expecting to just find one plugin that causes the issues that I’ve been having but they are now all active and the page is functioning perfectly well. I’m going to have a chat with my friend later and see what this may be down to.

    Hi,

We have seen this issue before. Shared hosting has spikes and lulls in performance. You are literally sharing a single server with hundreds, if not thousands of other users. During various peak times, you will see degradation in the performance of your shared server. Ultimately, the symptoms are there and you will continue to experience the issue in the long run.

Things like a CDN and caching can help. However, these are band-aids. Shared hosting is designed for small sites, usually static content, with limited traffic. Once asked, your server host should admit that you cannot dependably run a heavily trafficked site, with lots of dynamic content, on shared hosting. You definitely cannot run a secure SSL website like we do here at BeProSoftware.com. Nowadays, we even see, godaddy, bluehost and other major hosting providers offering “wordpress” specific options. These wordpress hosting options typically end up on a VPS.

At some point, you will have to upgrade to dependably deliver continuously low page load times. The decision of when to upgrade depends on your, website popularity, tolerance of the server situation and budget.
